.

Which is the best major in El Salvador?

Before answering the question of which is the best major in El Salvador? Is very important to know which major is best for you?  You have to take into account your interests, economic situation, and the vocation that you must have to develop yourself in your professional life.

You have to take into account your academic skills, some people make the mistake of choosing a career only because it is fashionable or because their friends chose this career, you have to think about your future and how important it is to choose the major that is right for you.

I think the best major anyone can study here in El Salvador is medicine, why? , Because the study of the human body, not only for this reason it is the best race, but also because it is a career that helps others.

Studying medicine is a very profitable career, because there is a wide range of job opportunities for example a doctor can work in hospitals, research centers, etc. There is also the possibility of further studying and obtain a specialization for example in be a surgeon.

A large number of students of medicine, have as one of their reasons to work and help people.
The majority of doctors say that there is no greater joy than that you feel when you manage to help a patient very sick or when a group of scientists discover a new drug for a particular disease. The ability to directly help in the health of a person is also a challenge and sometimes is not easy to develop.

Doctors are always at the top of the social scale. Doctors are recognized and admired in any society in the world. This also represents a great responsibility, since it is not uncommon that a doctor is also a moral authority, especially in the smaller places.

I have a cousin who is studying medicine and she has had the opportunity to be as a volunteer on a foreign ship, she has the advantage of being able to speak English, and this has allowed her the opportunity to meet new people and at the same time to help the sick people.

It is also very important to mention that people who study medicine receive scholarships for overseas and increases job opportunities and it is also very important that a person who is studying medicine can speak more than one language because this you have more job opportunities.

It is very important that a country is prepared for natural disasters, the government and the society has to help and promote ideas to reduce the risks of natural disasters and avoid material losses and losses of human persons.

One of the countries more prepared for natural disasters is Japan.

Japan is the best country prepared from around the world in emergencies of earthquakes and tsunamis.

The Japanese have been responsible for preparing the entire population with simulations of earthquakes, for example, in schools an alarm sounds and the children and teachers have to get under their desks to protect against the fall of the rubble.

These drills are conducted throughout the year and children are taught to hide under tables or desks and the children and the adults have to hold on to the legs of the table.

The local fire department also has groups of children in the machines of earthquake simulation in order to familiarize them with the feeling of being in an earthquake.

The schools that are of two plants have an escape route in which children can slip and fall in a safe place.

Japan has suffered many earthquakes, the Japanese have learned from past experiences for example in 1995 earthquake in Kobe killed 6.400 people and forced to re-evaluate the standards of construction for both offices, houses and transport infrastructure .

Damage to buildings in Tokyo was slight as a result of the stringent construction of Japan which ensures that skyscrapers sway during an earthquake, but the skyscrapers do not collapse.

The buildings are earthquake proof, with the help of the profound foundation and massive shock absorbers to cushion the seismic energy.

Another method allows the base of a building to move semi-independently to its superstructure, reducing the shaking caused by a quake.

Immediately after an earthquake strikes in Japan, all television and radio stations switch immediately to official earthquake coverage which informs the public of risks, including tsunamis to enable people to retreat to higher ground or, on the coast, purpose-built tsunami defence bunkers.

For those trapped, all offices and many private houses in Japan have an earthquake emergency kits, including dry rations, drinking water, basic medical supplies. Offices and school also keep hard-hats and gloves for use in the event of a quake.

Well, it is very important that the countries are prepared for natural disasters, in addition to Japan, there are other countries that have the ability to cope with natural disasters for example Chile which is the first country in Latin American to be the best country prepared for natural disasters especially in earthquakes , Mexico also has the ability to face any natural disaster and not suffer many consequences and there are other countries such as Finland, which is responsible for helping countries sub-developed to invest for the prevention of natural disasters.

There have been many earthquakes, tsunamis and other natural disasters around the world. Sometimes the situation can seem hopeless, but we have to be prepared for natural disasters.

Traumatic events, including natural disasters, are distressing. Strong reactions immediately after the event are very common. Fear, sadness, guilt and anger are all common emotions felt by children, teenagers, and adults. People start to question their own beliefs, particularly about their safety, sense of control over their life, and how predictable the world really is.

Well, I think that a family has to be organized for that type of situations for example is very important to  reach and very important documents ordered the more common are: certificates of birth, marriage documents, insurance records and medical histories, among others.

A good idea is to have copies of all important documents.

We must be vigilant to a natural disaster and we can organize bags with clothing, food, flashlights, batteries of good quality, and something that is very important is that a family can have a savings account for that if the house or any member of the family suffers damage, the savings will be a good way to cope with the situation.

Sometimes people who do not have a good economic situation lose their houses, I think that it is responsibility for us as a society to unite and help the people who are passing a difficult situation.

We can assist these people with clothes, shoes, food, helping them economically, and especially give them our love and support to all the people that lost loved ones during a natural disaster.

It is very difficult for everyone to start again, in my case if I lose my house or any member of my family I think that this situation will help me be a person more strong but also it is difficult to have a house, or to have clothes again and is even more difficult to know that you've lost a loved one.

I think that the best thing that we can do is to go to God with great faith because He is the only one who can relieve all our sorrows and pains and a difficult situation teaches us to be stronger and above all remember that God gives the hardest battles to his best soldiers ;)

My Vacations

Palm Sunday I went out with my family to the beach, in the afternoon we went to eat cassava to Sonsonate and I spent a pleasant time with my family. In my vacations I also started to look for information about the tasks that I had, and I also spend a little time chatting with my friends.

On Friday I helped an aunt to make "dulce de jocote" and enjoy a lot doing that. In the afternoon I went out with my mom to the church to see the procession of the holy burial.

could see this amazing view, then I went to see with my mom the carpets.

This carpet is of "Colegio Lourdes" where I studied in high school.

On Sunday I woke up early to go to the church, then in the afternoon I went out with my friends and in the night I celebrated with my whole family the birthday of an aunt.

On my vacations  thought about this holy week and this week I helped to be closer to God and to know that he died for our sins in order to be able to save us by that and more we have to give thanks to God.

My summary

The topic with we started this first period was “tag questions”.

Hello classmates! This is my summary of the first period.

For me the tag questions are small questions that we asked for the confirmation of what we say on the part of the other person.

For example: You are from Mexico aren’t you?

When the subject of the sentence is “I”, the auxiliary is “to be”, and the sentences is affirmative, in the “tag question” we don’t use am not I, we use aren’t I.

For example: I am your teacher, aren’t I?

If the sentence is affirmative, the “tag question” will be negative, but if the sentence is negative the “tag question” will be affirmative.

Compares these examples:

You didn’t go to the gym, did you?

We bought some sugar, didn’t we?

Another important point about the “tag question” is that we can use them with all the tenses.

We also learned tag question + imperatives.

We can use the tag question + imperative to express an invitation or an order.

Examples:

Open the window, will you?
Order
Do sit down, won’t you?
Invitation

Then we saw “shall” in my opinion “shall” is used to indicate a future action.

Shall has different uses:

Suggestion

Shall we try to finish the project today?

Predestination
He shall become our next president.
Inevitability
I shall reprobate my test of math.
Promises
I shall give you a new cellphone for your birthday.
Voluntary actions
I shall take everything for you.

Then we learned about the simple past and the past perfect.

I learned that we use the simple past to express the idea that an action started and finished at a specific time in the past.

Example: I traveled to Costa Rica.

Past perfect: expresses the idea that something occurred before another action in the past.

Example: I had visited the doctor.

We also learned that: the simple past and past perfect can be used with when and before

When: Depending on the situation.

Examples:
  • When he had lived in Poland, he had a hard life.
  • When he had traveled to Paris, he wanted to see the Eiffel tower.

Before: If the actions after “before” is a new action use Simple Past. If the action after "before" started (and was not completed) before a certain time in the past, use Past Perfect.

Example: He had finished his homework before he went to the stadium.

We saw uses of past perfect:

1.We can use the past perfect tense with: already , just and soon

Examples:
  • I had already written a book.

  • The train had just left when I arrived at the station.

  • As soon as she had done her homework, she went to bed.

2.  We use the past perfect when two actions were completed in the past, but one happens earlier.

Example: the movie that you watched, I had watched before.

3.Passive and active voice:

Example:

Active: The little girl had broken the window.
Passive: The window had been broken by the little girl.

4.Frequency adverbs: say how often an activity happens.

Example: She had never seen a bear before she moved to Alaska.

Then we learned about cultural awareness, we learned about the cultural awareness of others countries and we learned more vocabulary related to the manner and etiquette.

We also learned about the health matters and next to this topic we saw the modals “must” and “be able to”.

I learned that we can use “must” when we want to express necessary, obligation and conclusions.

Example:

You must study for the exam
Obligation

Mary has a cat carrier. She must have a cat.
Conclusion

“Be able to”: is used to express ability.

Example: I am able to speak two languages.

Others modals that we learned were “may” and “might” in my opinion we can used “may” and “might” to express possibility, but may also express permission.

Examples:

My mother said that it may snow tomorrow.
Possibility.

The last topic that we saw was causative verbs: get, have, make and let.

Get: we used it to convince someone to do something, with “get” we used “to”.

Example: I get my brother to wash the car.

Have: it is used to give someone a responsibility to do something.

Example: I'll have the carpenter fix my door.

Make: It is used to force someone to do something.

Example: She made her husband help her clean the kitchen.

Let: we used let “to allow someone to do something”.

Example: The teacher lets his students choose the essay topic.
